John Sessions In Sherlock

Paul McGuigan‘s been tweeting recently about rehearsals and prepping for shooting Sherlock. It seems they’re going to start shooting his episode(s) tomorrow, and McGuigan just tweeted the following:

McGuigan's tweet about John Sessions

Interesting! So, it looks like John Sessions will be guest-starring, and in a rather fabulous outfit as well. As an American, I’m primarily familiar with Sessions from his appearances on early seasons of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? and, given some of McGuigan’s other tweets, it sure sounds like Sherlock won’t shy away from the funny.

More updates as we get them!

Glad to see they’re not shying away from the funny. This sounds amusing.
Poor McGuigan though. From his last few tweets it sounds like things aren’t going so well. Hopefully there won’t be any more incidents on set.

  2. Sean says:

Yep, sounds like the snow’s been causing a bit of a mess there. Hope the rest of the shoot goes well!

Thought I’d pass this along. The press release for Sherlock on the Hartswood Films website was updated to announce the commencement of filming. There’s not much added, but another writer, Steven Thompson, was mentioned alongside Moffat and Gatiss. Also it seems that McGuigan will be directing all three episodes.

  4. Sean says:

Thanks! Looks like Euros Lyn is directing at least one of the episodes/films/whatever format this is. Can’t say I’m a fan; his early Doctor Who episodes were decent, but near the end his style really grated on me.

  5. Nichole says:

Oh really? I must have missed that. I’ve never heard of him, so I can’t comment there.
Yeah, I’m not exactly sure about the format either. To me 90 minutes would be a film, but I’ve seen it listed as episodes. Maybe it works differently in the UK.

  6. Tanner says:

Hi. I’m really, really looking forward to Sherlock, and I love your blog! In case you haven’t seen it, today’s Hollywood Reporter says that PBS has picked up Sherlock for US broadcast. (Yay!) It will air on Masterpiece Mystery.

  7. Liz says:

Yes, Tanner, I was just coming on to write a quick post about that! I’ve been out of town and away from blogging for a bit.

  8. Sean says:

Thanks for the comments, everyone — sorry we’ve been a little off our blogging game the last few weeks as we’ve both been traveling quite a bit! Keep the tips coming!
